An ordinary guy searching for a better life for his family achieves Senior Director 2
“…At Convention, I learned the importance of the 7 Critical Activities from one of the
speakers, and for the whole of last year, I repeated those steps with resounding success.”
For many Marketing Executives, building the Melaleuca business is all about timing. They may have been introduced to Melaleuca a long time ago, but because they didn’t have the desire, time or patience to build the business, it may have passed them by. This was the case with Senior Director 2 James Lok.
James was first introduced to Melaleuca in 2016 by Senior Director 9 Kelvin Liew and Executive Director 5 Sean Wong, and enrolled as a sign of support. Soon, with Kelvin’s encouragement, James began building the business and advanced to Director 3.
“However, I soon became restless and felt that following up was too troublesome, so I returned to being just a customer,” he explains. James went into investing, even while knowing that there were high risks involved. He made some money and lost more. By 2018, he was heavily in debt and at the lowest point of his life. Then a phone call from Sean changed things. “We met up and I realized he has changed, for the better, from two years ago. Sean explained that it is all thanks to Melaleuca and explained to me why Melaleuca is different from all the other companies.
This time around, I paid attention. After my failed investments, I now understood and became more attracted to the concept of residual income. After listening to Sean’s sharing, I decided to start building a Melaleuca business seriously,” James recalls. When James first stated building his business again, he did not do all of the 7 Critical Business-building Activities. He admitted that while he added names to his contact list, set appointments, present Melaleuca, enroll customers and follow-up, he did not celebrate success, involve himself in Fast Track Challenges nor lead by example. This changed when he attended the Malaysia & Singapore Convention 2019.
“At Convention, I learned the importance of the 7 Critical Activities from one of the speakers, and for the whole of last year, I repeated those steps with resounding success,” he shares. James also recounted how he and Kelvin watched the events unfolding on stage and vowed to walk on stage the next Convention. “Although this didn’t materialize as Convention was cancelled, but we weren’t disappointed as our business grew significantly in 2019,” James shares.
For James, the best part about building this business is seeing his business builders succeed in building a residual income. It gives him great joy when he see that their businesses have grown so much, and their lives have transformed for the better. “When I needed help, my partners went all out to help me. There is so much teamwork, that this feels like a family,”
comments James. James is also grateful that building this business has not taken time away from his family. “When I was in the investment business, I had to travel frequently to meet clients. That really affected my relationship with my family members. With Melaleuca, my life has become more regular and the family bond have deepened,” he shares, adding that his main motivation for building this business is for his family. James knows that with hard work and effort in Melaleuca, he can achieve financial freedom without sacrificing time with his family. And that, for him, is the reason why he’ll keep on building his Melaleuca business this time around.
