Linux Woo & Suey Soo
An aircon installer working in Singapore for 10 years achieves Executive Director 6 and finally goes home to be with his family in Malaysia with monthly 5 digit residual income.
“Success doesn’t come from what you do occasionally. It comes from what you do consistently.” Even though Executive Directors 6 Linux Woo and Suey Soo have achieved their initial ‘Why’ in November 2016, which is for then Singapore-based Linux to return home with a sustainable income from their Melaleuca business, they have never dropped the ball and have remained consistent in executing their personal activities.
This consistency is what enabled the couple to qualify for the Critical Activity Bonus 13 times, earning an additional RM204,000, and led them to their double advancement to Executive Director 6. For them, these two achievements are true validation that they are doing the right activities. “That’s the beauty of the Critical Activity Bonus and the surest way for you to know if you’re building the Melaleuca business the right way. It’s a reward for doing all the right activities—consistent enrollments, leadership development, effective follow-up and retention, and that bonus is also Melaleuca’s way of enhancing your life. With that additional bonus, Suey and I are able to pay down our debts faster, and send our kids for additional extra-curricular classes like piano lessons,” shares Linux. For the couple, being consistent with their personal activities is also a way to hold themselves accountable to their team.
They firmly believe in leadership by example, and hold themselves accountable by walking the talk. “Accountability is very important in building a Melaleuca business. One should be willing to be accountable to the commitments made, and being accountable is a great way to stay on course because let’s face it—we tend to let ourselves off the hook sometimes,” Linux explains. The couple has an accountability group for team members who are committed to adding new names to their contact list, making calls and setting appointments to share the Overview. Besides reporting their activities daily, Linux and Suey will also summarise each team member’s result at month end and celebrate their progress. “Celebrations are very important, no matter how big or small the result is. It motivates people to do better. This is another benefit of the accountability system— members are able to seek advice and find motivation at times they need it the most,” Suey chimes in.
One such team member who gained her momentum through the accountability system is newly-advanced Senior Director 2 Yvonne Tan. Yvonne, a Malaysian based in Singapore like Linux, enrolled in Melaleuca with no intention to build the business. “When Linux shared that he successfully returned home from Singapore permanently, I was really happy for him and sent him a personal congratulatory message,” Yvonne recalls. Linux immediately replied, “You can also achieve that!” This triggered Yvonne to start thinking about the Melaleuca business opportunity. Eventually, she decided to build the business and successfully returned home to her family in October 2018. “The accountability system that Linux and Suey put in place helps business builders like me to be consistent. As we all know, whatever we achieve today is a result of the compounded effort from the past. So, don’t be disheartened if you don’t see results immediately because it will come if you stay consistent,” shares Yvonne, who double advanced in March.
For Linux, this is what he enjoys most in building the Melaleuca business—the ability to help people change their lives, especially those who are separated from their families because of work and are working towards reuniting with their families. “Being able to make a difference in people’s lives is the crux of the Melaleuca business. I’m probably bias, but my favorite success stories to share are probably of Yvonne and Executive Director 4 Ice Tan,as their circumstances were similar to mine. We were all based in Singapore for work, but yearned to be reunited with our family,” shares Linux. Besides the accountability system, Linux and Suey also fully utilize digital platforms to retain and maintain their community of business builders. As the couple has a thriving organization in Malaysia and Singapore, online meetings and trainings are the most convenient and effective method to engage with their team. “We transitioned our face-to-face business meetings and weekly product trainings to online sessions last year as it was the easiest way for people to participate from where they are. So when the Movement Control Order and Circuit Breaker were announced in Malaysia and Singapore respectively, we were well-prepared,” says the couple, who took the opportunity to mobilize their team to duplicate their efforts. “All these really drives home the fact that lives do change here at Melaleuca. I am a living proof and beneficiary of Melaleuca’s exceptional wellness products and viable residual income opportunity.
I was an air conditioner technician living apart from my family but had dreams of changing my life. I didn’t have capital, formal education or business experience but today, I’m back in Malaysia, have a successful product-focused business that generates real residual income, and have achieved so many of my goals,” says Linux, who intends to help more people reach their goals. “My goal this year is to develop a new Senior Director.”
