Used to be an Army regular, searching for better life and time freedom for his daughter achieves Senior Director 3
“…All business builders are walking testimonials of how Melaleuca can help enhance lives, and I’m no different. My life is so much better and I want to help others live better lives as well.”
A desire to spend more time with his family, while earning a growing residual income, is what drove Senior Director Charles Sng to leave his Armed Forces career behind and focus on Melaleuca. “The Armed Forces is a stable job. However, the biggest drawback is that my role requires me to report for duty even during weekends and holidays. I also worked very long hours. Consequently my family life suffered,” Charles explains. Last year, his 8-year old daughter lamented at the fact that he has not been spending enough time with her. Upon reflection, Charles decided to leave his army career behind in August and fully commit to building the Melaleuca business full time.
That decision paid off, as he advanced from Director 5 to his current Senior Director status in 5 months. Charles maintains a schedule that allows him to build his business and drive for e-hailing app Grab, part-time, without jeopardizing time with his family. “I start my day by dropping my daughter off at school, and sometimes my wife at work.
Then I start driving for Grab, with my customer or team appointments slotted in between. My team will usually schedule sessions for me to help them as well. If there are no appointments, I will go through my contact list to set appointments, or go through my game plan,” he shares, while strictly maintaining weekends as family time. Charles, who initially began driving for Grab to help close the gap before his Melaleuca income is able to provide for all his needs, found that it’s the best way to network and add names to his contact list. He makes it a point to speak to at least 4 passengers about Melaleuca and to add at least one name daily.
What Charles likes about building the Melaleuca business is the fact that all one needs to do is execute the 7 Critical Business-Building Activities. “The 7 Activities will impact your business greatly if you were to just follow and do it consistently, like how many successful leaders have done,” Charles explains. At the same time, Charles says business builders also need to shift their mentality from only focusing on their own goals to helping others reach theirs. “Focus more on helping people instead of thinking about how you can advance.
Success in Melaleuca comes from helping people. When your builders achieve their goals, eventually yours will be achieved too,” shares Charles, saying that’s how he grew his business and advanced to his current status.
Life for Charles and his family is looking better. Now, he gets to be there for his family without him having to report to anyone or ask for replacement before he can leave the workplace. He also gets to spend holidays with his family, which he was unable to when he was in the Army as he was always on duty. In addition, his Melaleuca income has enabled him to pay down his credit card debts and bring his family for holidays abroad.
“All business builders are walking testimonials of how Melaleuca can help enhance lives, and I’m no different. My life is so much better and I want to help others live better lives as well,” Charles says. The satisfaction of seeing how his effort can help change someone’s life for the better has become his favorite part of building the business. What keeps Charles moving forward is the idea of giving his family a stable income and a legacy for his daughter. That keeps him going strong no matter what obstacle he faces.
