Kenneth Ng & Jane Ng
A business owner searching for time freedom achieves Executive Director 5 and enjoy time freedom with his 4 kids.
ONE THING TO DO MORE OF: Share Melaleuca products with others! “Never stop sharing Melaleuca. Everyone would have a need for our products, be it from supplement to household cleaners,” Kenneth says. Noting the Covid-19 pandemic situation, he says it’s all the more reason to build one’s immunity and take extra precautions when it comes to personal and home hygiene. “Melaleuca has excellent products and the fact that our products are flying off the shelves so quickly now is testament,” he continues, saying that health and hygiene is a top priority for everyone now.
ONE HABIT YOU NEED TO FORM: “Be more digital-savvy!” Kenneth is most comfortable in meeting people face-to-face, be it to share Melaleuca with potential customers or to coach his business builders. However, this simply isn’t possible throughout the Circuit Breaker, a stay-at home and social distancing mandate by the Singapore government to help curb the spread of Covid-19. “This made me realize that I need to leverage more on the internet, as well as digital and social media tools to ensure I keep growing my business,” shares Kenneth, who has turned to online tools to guide and coach his team members.
ONE THING THAT WILL BUILD INTRIGUE: Kenneth and Jane affirm that their own life experiences and positive changes have helped build the intrigue and curiosity about the Melaleuca business. “People see the vast differences in our lives before and after Melaleuca, and they can’t help but wonder and eventually ask us,” they share. Prior to Melaleuca, Kenneth used to own and run a construction and interior design business, where long days and late nights were a norm. With a busy work schedule, he was constantly missing time with his family. With Melaleuca, the couple dictate their own schedule and are able to spend quality family time. On top of that, Kenneth also loves that the Melaleuca business is one that is rewarding and enriching. “It is a refreshing change to surround myself with such positive and inspiring energy, instead of constantly being in a hectic work environment. I finally understand what real passionate work means. Work is no longer just a means to make a living,” he continues.
ONE THING THAT WILL HELP YOU DEVELOP LEADERSHIP IN YOUR BUSINESS: Kenneth and Jane strongly believe in leading by example. Whether it is enrolling customers or qualifying for Fast Track Trips or Critical Activity Bonus, the couple make it a point to walk the talk. “A leader doesn’t mean telling others what to do, but to execute what we preach and ensure we’re successful in our actions. Only then will your business builders take heed of what you say and follow suit,” Kenneth shares. He added that through leadership by example, his team is able to duplicate what he has taught to their own business builders. The snowballed duplication has led to Kenneth and Jane’s organization growing rapidly.
ONE HABITYOU NEED TO BREAK: Be complacent or take things for granted. “It’s alright to go slow, but it’s not alright to stop,” Kenneth says, sharing an example. In Melaleuca, the first Critical Business-building Activity is to ‘Keep Building Your Contact List’. Kenneth, who used to own a business, had quite a sizeable contact list that he could tap into for a few years. On that contact list, there were people whom he had established good relationships with, and when he began building the Melaleuca business, they became his customers and business partners. However, eventually his contacts began to run out. “I took for granted that the contact list I have would never run dry, so there were times that I wasn’t consistent in adding names. That was a real challenge and it’s a lesson I’ll never forget,” he laughs. ADVANCEMENT: “Qualify for as many Critical Activity Bonus as possible!” Building a Melaleuca business is about enrolling customers, developing Directors, and following up with your customers to ensure they remain happy shoppers for months to come. When a business builder does all these consistently, they will be growing their business and so, qualifying for the Critical Activity Bonus is just a natural outcome. “A lot of Marketing Executives look for a simple success formula to follow so that they can achieve steady growth in their business. The Critical Activity Bonus is the formula. It is designed to help us grow our business without having to perform complex numerical calculations,” Kenneth explains. By qualifying for the Critical Activity Bonus every month, Kenneth and Jane proven to their team that not only is this possible to achieve, but that their business also grew exponentially as a result. By doing so, the couple also advanced to their current Executive Director 5 status in February 2020.
ONE THING TO MAKE YOUR STRATEGY SESSION MORE EFFECTIVE: Encouraging open and honest dialogues between yourself and your business builders. Whether it’s a face-to-face or online strategy session, Kenneth and Jane stress on the importance of having a two-way conversation. “A strategy session is only effective when we understand why our builders want to build the business and what challenges they face. Each business builder is different and game plans must be tailored to suit their strengths and weaknesses. That’s why an open and honest strategy session is important,” Kenneth says. In the times of Covid-19, being open and honest is even more imperative. “Now that most of our activities have moved online, we need to ensure that there’s a platform for our interaction and encourage our business builders to open up and share,” he continues.
ONE THING TO BUILD A SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS: Always have consistency and perseverance. “Building a Melaleuca business is all about being consistent in your work and effort, as that will yield great results. My early days in Melaleuca was not the smoothest of journey and had its fair share of challenges, but I always push myself to move forward and reach my goals.” Kenneth advises new business builders to persevere and weather the journey no matter what lies ahead, saying that rainbows always appear after the rain.2020 marks the 5th year since they embarked on their Melaleuca journey, but Kenneth and Jane feel that they have a long way to go. “We know that there are so much more than we can do to help others, and this is what motivates us every day. We want to help as many people as we can to build this business successfully, earn residual income and live a life of total wellness,” they share.
